Having caused untold problems for the government last week, Katherine Zappone is getting out of Dodge. A buyer has been found for her house in Brittas, south Dublin, which got a €160,000 upgrade by Dermot Bannon on RTE’s Room to Improve in 2013. The former hunting lodge had been on the market for €750,000 but went “sale agreed” last week.
Zappone, who has already moved to New York, will now do without her €15,000-a-year UN sinecure but the proceeds for her Dublin house will help pay for visits to chichi wine bars and parties in five-star hotels. Interestingly myhome.ie, where the house is listed, includes a handy feature that allows prospective buyers to estimate the distance between houses they’re viewing and their workplace.
